Our Inspiration

  • Tab 1

adhishnkrAdi Shankaracharya travelled throughout India to rejuvenate the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta through discourses and debates with other leading thinkers. He challenged and defeated the famous Pandits of Varanasi and then went on to travel India spreading the message of Oneness. He is reputed to have founded the four mathas ("monasteries"), which helped in the historical development, revival and spread of Advaita Vedanta of which he is known as the greatest revivalist.  At the age of only 8 he had left home and when he was asked who he was by his future Guru, Govinda Bhagavatapada, 8 yr old Shankara replied :-

and these verses became known as the famous Nirvana Shatkam.

One of his other famous compositions is Bhaj Govindam which is widely recited by Advaitins all over the world.

krshnyogiAccording to the Bhagavata Purana Lord Krishna was Svayam Bhagavan, the purna-avatara or full incarnation of Supreme Lord Vishnu. The Purana states that Lord Vishnu, or Narayana, appeared before Vasudeva and Devaki in his divine real form before taking birth after which Lord Vishnu transformed himself into an infant. Sri Krishna's dialogue with Arjun on how to attain Yoga, the Bhagavad Gita, has become one of the most popular spiritual texts the world over, amongst all yoga practitioners and householders, Hindu and non Hindu alike.
